today is our 9th day and we have walked about 245 kilometers. As Antoine said it is the most difficult but it is very rewarding. the people in this part of France see about 1000 pilgrims a year compare to the hundred thousands that goes to compostelle every year; they really treat us as pilgrim; Easter sunday was a short walk but though mentally and we were seating on a bench resting and when we got up to resume our walk a lady opened her window and inveted us for a coffee and minni pizza, what a boost it was; when we left her we felt that we had wings and were walking much faster and the rest of the day was wonderful. Wi Fi and internet almost non existant around here but when we find it is al,ost always free for pilgrims especially those who come from far. we are hoping to be in Besancons on Friday and connect with a gentle, ent that will help us with accomodations for 3 or 4 days. looking forward to meet him. I do not know what the weather is in Canada but here i is very cold: Every night it is -8 C and durinf the day around 10, but every day there is this very cold wind and since we started it is mostly in plains it is cold: we have not done any outdoor camping
but we have done indoor with no toilet and no water, but we really apreciated it:
Kai when you are in France, Mairie and Tourist Office will always find you a place to sleep, they are absolutely wonderful; i guess because they dont see that many pilgrims they can accomodate them.
This route is really a pioneer's road, totally unspoiled and not very well travelled; we have not seen any pilgrim other than the one that was travelling for 6 months.
Will try to give more news in a few days.
What a pleasure to hear from you - you are a pioneer pilgrim! Blessings on the trail!
